Kaligandaki River Bank to Feature New Trekking Route, Boosting Tourism

A significant infrastructural project is currently underway along the picturesque banks of the Kaligandaki River in Nawalparasi district, aimed at significantly boosting religious and tourist activities within this culturally rich corridor. The Baudikali Rural Municipality has initiated the construction of a dedicated trekking route, commencing from the Balighat area. This ambitious undertaking seeks to draw both domestic and international visitors, enhancing the region’s appeal as a prominent destination.

The Kaligandaki River, revered for its sacred Shaligram stones and as a vital pilgrimage route leading to Muktinath, holds immense spiritual importance. The new trekking route is expected to not only facilitate easier access for pilgrims and trekkers but also to stimulate local economic growth by creating opportunities for small businesses, homestays, and guiding services. Prakash Ojha, chairperson of the Rural Municipality, has reportedly emphasized the project’s potential to unlock the area’s untapped tourism potential, linking natural beauty with spiritual journeys.

This initiative represents a strategic effort to develop sustainable tourism infrastructure, aligning with the broader vision of promoting Nepal’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. By fostering a more accessible and engaging environment, the project is poised to contribute to the upliftment of local communities and position Nawalparasi as a key highlight on Nepal’s tourism map, promising a unique blend of adventure and spiritual exploration.
