Government Declares 45 Killed in Genji Movement Protests as Martyrs

The government has decided to declare  45 people who lost their lives during the protests on September 8 and 9 (2082 Bhadra 23 and 24) as martyrs.

According to government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, Monday’s Cabinet meeting made the decision to recognize as martyrs those who were killed in various parts of the country, including Kathmandu, during the demonstrations organized by the Genji Generation demanding good governance and an end to corruption.

“The Cabinet has decided to declare the 45 individuals who died during the protests held by the Genji Generation on September 8 and 9, demanding good governance and anti-corruption measures, as martyrs on behalf of the state,” Minister Kharel said. “Further study is being carried out regarding additional cases,” he added.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to appoint Deputy Attorney General Ghanshyam Ojha as a member of the Foreign Employment Tribunal.
