Temperature of Nepal’s Terai region rises above 40 degrees Celsius, livelihoods becoming difficult
The temperature has started to exceed forty degree Celsius in Terai districts. With the increase in summer, people’s life has also started to become difficult. In addition to the absence of pre-monsoon, the heat is increasing day by day due to fire, pollution and drought. Biratnagar, Janakpur, Bhairawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Simra have seen the highest temperature rise. So far this year, the highest temperature has been measured at 43.6 in Bhairahawa, 40.7 in Nepalgunj, 40.6 in Dhangadhi, 40.2 in Janakpurdham and 36.7 in Biratnagar.
In addition to resting under trees to avoid the heat and scorching sun, common people have started drinking water along with lassi, satu, juice. Apart from this, the sale of cucumbers, watermelons and cooling green vegetables has also increased. With the increase in summer, health workers have requested to be cautious as hot air may blow in the Terai. As the heat increases, it can also cause various health problems, according to the doctor.
Diarrhea, typhoid, jaundice and other problems increase in summer. Problems such as increased heart rate, fainting, vomiting, and nausea also occur. Doctors have suggested to take precautions such as not going out during the day, using umbrellas or thin clothes to cover the body when going out, not eating stale and rotten food, using plenty of water and fruits and doing farm work in the morning or evening.
