Himalayan Lessons Come to Bangkok: Wildlife Photography and Conservation Initiative Launched

Bangkok, Thailand – October 29, 2025 – A new, vibrant cross-border initiative connecting Nepal and Thailand in the fields of wildlife photography, conservation, and cultural exchange is set to launch this week in Bangkok. The Gehendra Dhimal Foundation (GDF), in partnership with Photo Hostel & Photo Cafe, is presenting a special event titled “Through the Wild Lens – Field-tested Lessons from the Himalayas” on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 3:30 PM at the Photo Hostel & Photo Cafe in Talad Noi.

The session will be led by renowned Nepali wildlife photographer Om Prakash Yadav, a Nikon School Nepal Certified Instructor and one of South Asia’s most respected voices in nature documentation.

A Focus on Ethical Engagement and Field Expertise

The interactive program marks the start of a long-term collaboration between the two nations, aiming to foster creative education, environmental awareness, and responsible photography. It is expected to draw a diverse audience of photographers, conservationists, students, and nature enthusiasts.

During the event, Om Prakash Yadav will share his decades of experience from Nepal’s national parks and challenging Himalayan ecosystems. Participants will gain practical knowledge on working with natural light, anticipating animal behavior, and approaching wildlife photography with a vital conservation-driven intent. Yadav’s work is celebrated for documenting endangered species and habitats, lending crucial support to conservation agencies and educational institutions across the region.

Sparking Conversations for a Sustainable Future

Following the presentation, a networking session will connect leading Thai and international photographers, editors, camera brand representatives, and conservation voices.

Gautam Dhimal, Chairperson of the Gehendra Dhimal Foundation, emphasized the initiative’s core philosophy: “This initiative reflects our belief that awareness begins when people see and feel the world around them differently. Through photography and the arts, we can spark conversations about conservation, community, and the fragile balance that connects us to nature… [and] inspire small but lasting steps toward a more mindful and sustainable way of living.”

Om Prakash Yadav shared his personal commitment, stating, “Photography has always been a way for me to share what I learn in the field and to help others see nature with respect… This event continues that same journey of learning together, caring together, and keeping the wild alive.”

The collaboration between the Gehendra Dhimal Foundation and Photo Hostel & Photo Cafe is intended to grow into an international platform for continuous exchange programs, workshops, and collaborative exhibitions focused on art, education, and environmental sustainability. The initiative is supported by MORPH Magazine and Photo Walk Nepal, both committed to promoting ethical photography in South Asia.
