Senior litterateur Chand receives civic felicitations

Senior litterateur and former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand was recently acknowledged with civic felicitations in Dhangadhi. The recognition ceremony, organized by the Civic Felicitations Main Organizing Committee, highlighted Chand’s remarkable contributions to Nepali literature. The event, held in Kailali district, saw Committee Coordinator Maya Prakash Bhatta presenting Chand with a letter of appreciation.

Various literary associations, numbering around two dozen, such as the Sudurpaschimanchal Literary Society and Sudurpaschim Academy, also joined in honoring Chand for his significant achievements. Bhatta emphasized that the civic felicitations program was specifically arranged to celebrate Chand’s 84th birth anniversary.

Renowned as “Shreelochan” within the Nepali literary sphere, Chand was awarded the prestigious Madan Puraskar in 2054 BS for his collection of stories titled ‘Bisarjan’. Hailing from Sunarya Rural Municipality in Baitadi district, Chand has authored 14 literary works, including ‘Hiyuko Tanna’, ‘Ratri Bhoj’, and ‘Aparajita’, among others.
