Nepal’s Minister Chaudhary Heads to Thailand for Environment and Sustainable Development Conferences
Kathmandu, Nepal – Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Geeta Chaudhary, departed today for Bangkok, Thailand, to participate in two significant international conferences focused on environment and sustainable development. Leading a Nepali delegation, Minister Chaudhary’s visit to the Thai capital aims to contribute to global discussions and foster collaborations on critical environmental issues, underscoring Nepal’s commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable practices on an international platform.
The delegation’s participation follows a decision made by the Council of Ministers on Jestha 29 (May 12). Minister Chaudhary is scheduled to attend the conferences from June 29 to 30 (Aṣār 15 and 16). These high-level gatherings are crucial for sharing expertise, discussing policy frameworks, and developing actionable strategies to achieve sustainable development goals, which are particularly pertinent for a Himalayan nation like Nepal that is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
This international engagement offers Nepal an invaluable opportunity to present its national initiatives in environmental conservation and sustainable resource management, while also learning from global best practices. Minister Chaudhary’s presence at these forums is expected to strengthen bilateral ties with participating nations and organizations, paving the way for potential partnerships and technical assistance vital for Nepal’s ongoing efforts towards ecological preservation and a greener, more sustainable future.
