Nepali students spending for studying abroad exceeds the expenses incurred by foreign tourists visiting Nepal
According to the report released by the Central Bank of Nepal for the last six months of the current fiscal year (until Poush), it has been observed that Nepali students spending for studying abroad exceeds the expenses incurred by foreign tourists visiting Nepal.
The report states that the revenue generated from tourism during the last six months of the current fiscal year amounted to NPR 39.56 billion. In contrast, the expenditure during the same period for tourism reached NPR 92.87 billion.
The expenditure incurred by Nepali students going abroad for higher education alone amounted to NPR 58.95 billion. According to the Central Bank’s report, during the same period last year, Nepal’s tourism expenditure was NPR 57.82 billion, with educational expenses amounting to NPR 35.36 billion.
During the six months of the last fiscal year, Nepal’s tourism revenue amounted to NPR 27.40 billion, which is 44.4% lower compared to the current fiscal year.
