Nepal Premier League Season 2 Ushers in New Era of Day/Night Cricket

Nepali cricket is entering a new chapter with the launch of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The tournament, dubbed the “Festival of Himalayas,” is scheduled to begin at the newly upgraded Tribhuvan University (TU) International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

The most anticipated feature of this season is the introduction of floodlights, enabling the hosting of Day/Night cricket matches for the first time at the historic venue. Extensive renovations over the past months have transformed the ground, installing six high-mast floodlight towers and constructing concrete parapets with seating for 10,000 fans.

The opening match, featuring the defending champions Janakpur Bolts against the Kathmandu Gorkhas, will not only mark the NPL season’s commencement but also the inaugural full match under the new lighting system. With a majority of the 32 fixtures planned under the lights, and international star players signed by the eight franchises, NPL Season 2 is set to be a significant boost to the professionalism and popularity of cricket in Nepal.
