Insurance Authority Chief Ojha sacked

Sharad Ojha has been relieved of his duties as the Chair of the Insurance Authority.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, on Monday night.

According to a government minister, Ojha was removed due to questions surrounding his qualifications.

A probe committee, led by former High Court Justice Krishna Giri, had been formed to investigate the matter.

The committee submitted its report on Sunday.

Ojha was appointed as the Insurance Authority Chair on Falgun 12.

After being embroiled in controversy just months into his tenure, the government has decided to remove him from the position.
