Blackpink’s Lisa Joins ‘White Lotus’ Season 3
According to a report by Variety, Lisa, a member of the K-pop group Blackpink, has joined the cast of “The White Lotus” Season 3. She will be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal, in the hit HBO series. Details about her role, like those of other cast members, are being kept confidential. The third season of “The White Lotus” is scheduled to commence production in February in various locations in Thailand, including Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok. While plot specifics are under wraps, it is known that the season will feature a new set of guests at a White Lotus resort property.
Lisa’s participation in “The White Lotus” marks her acting debut. She becomes the second member of Blackpink to appear in an HBO series, following Jennie’s acting debut in the drama “The Idol” in June 2023.
Blackpink, consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, is renowned as one of the world’s most popular musical groups. Since their debut in August 2016 under YG Entertainment, they have achieved numerous milestones in the music industry, including chart-topping singles and collaborations with international artists like Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez.
Lalisa Manobal, who recently established her own management company named Lloud Co., has also attained significant individual achievements. Her solo album “Lalisa” broke records in South Korea, becoming the first female artist to sell 736,999 copies in the first week. Both singles from the album, “Lalisa” and “Money,” reached the top 10 of the Billboard Global 200 chart, with “Money” becoming the longest-charting song by a female K-pop soloist on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and U.K. Singles Chart. In 2023, she set three Guinness World Records as the Most Instagram followers for a K-pop artist and the first solo K-pop winner at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Lalisa Manobal is represented by Lloud Co.
“The White Lotus” was created by Mike White, who also serves as executive producer and director. David Bernad and Mark Kamine are also executive producers. HBO has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to support the filming and promotion of the third installment.
“The White Lotus” garnered critical acclaim upon its debut in 2021, receiving numerous Emmy nominations and wins for its first and second seasons set in Hawaii and Sicily, respectively.
