Nepali Film Red Passport to Portray the European Dream

A new Nepali film titled Red Passport has officially entered production. Directed by Simson Tamang, the film will explore the journeys and hardships of Nepalis who travel to Europe in search of citizenship, symbolized by their coveted “red passports.”

The movie is a collaborative production between Seabirds Pictures and Hope’s Buzz, with support from Trident Concepts. The narrative is crafted by writer Michael Tamang, while Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary is responsible for the screenplay and dialogues.

A teaser poster, inspired by the cover design of a Portuguese passport, was recently released on social media—revealing the film’s central theme and sparking anticipation.

Producers include Lok Bahadur Tamang, with Pravesh Poudel serving as executive producer. Poudel is known for directing America Boys and Bihe Paas. The technical crew features Amrit Marhatta on makeup and SFX, Rabindra Neupane behind the camera, and Jayan J. Waiba composing the music. Royal Bhimsen, from Trident Concepts, is designing the film’s promotional materials.

Simson Tamang, who has long experience in the Nepali film industry, will take the director’s seat after serving as action director and chief assistant action director on numerous popular films, including Bouncer, Body Guard, Love Sab, Madhumas, Black Flag, Killa, Aishwarya, Radhe, Rudra, Pinjada Back Again, Dhanya Maya Jaal, Asur The Mystery (Hindi), and Lappan Chappan 2.

Casting is set to commence soon in Nepal, and international auditions are planned for Europe and the UK, according to Pravesh Poudel. The movie will be filmed on location in Portugal, other European countries, and Nepal.
